Co-Working, Partnership

Work:Space

Last week we hosted Work:Space, a pop up co-working space, in partnership with Space to Breathe who are based in our offices. It ran as a two day drop in for start-ups, social enterprises and sole traders. The aim was to create a space to connect with likeminded people with some wellbeing support available from Andy at Space to Breathe. There was coffee and tea on tap, free wifi and various spaces to work in.

Work:Space ran as a trial to bring together people in the city who are starting new things. Sheffield is now a Social Enterprise city and we have such a rich culture of new and innovative businesses so we were excited to connect with some of the people doing these things.

It was great have a mix of different people join us who are doing a whole raft of things across the city. Katherine and Rhiannon of Andro and Eve who ‘create unique, feel good events that celebrate queer culture’. Ant of Creative Stream which ‘specialises in awesome design’. Ben who runs his own web agency. JP who works in communications but is looking to start up something new. Holly of SimplYou Coaching. And many more.

I loved meeting people who were doing things that are completely different to what I do in my every day. It was interesting to hear about people’s experiences of working on their own and as someone who works better in a busy space, I appreciated being able to be part of Work:Space.

We don’t know what the future of Work:Space is going to look like; keep your eyes peeled for more information as we get our heads together after a fab couple of days. If you are interested in a more permanent co-working space then check out some of the excellent spaces in Sheffield such as Union St and Roco.
