Something Old and Something New

Here at The Printhouse, we are looking forward to the Spring and excited to welcome old friends and make new ones over the coming months. Whilst we look forward to what’s coming up, we’re also looking back at what this space has been used for in the past.

The place where the Printhouse stands today has served all manner of purposes. Originally it was a printers under the name of Parker & Honey, producing stationary for various law firms based in Sheffield city centre. That’s why we’re called The Printhouse, remembering what has been and still serving the city centre…just in a slightly different way than before!

Some printing tools we have lying around the office…

Since then, it has also been home to various restaurants and bars until it was turned into The Printhouse in 2014. It’s quite remarkable to think of all the different things that have taken place over the years on just this one site let alone across the whole of Sheffield city centre.

Today, we hope to welcome you to our space to create more memories, whether that’s for your baby shower, your wedding reception, your business event, or anything else you might have in mind! Get in touch with events manager Joe on 0751 7511 793 or to book your event today (and check out our new Instagram feed at theprinthousesheffield to follow more of what we’re up to…)

Co-Working, Partnership

Last week we hosted Work:Space, a pop up co-working space, in partnership with Space to Breathe who are based in our offices. It ran as a two day drop in for start-ups, social enterprises and sole traders. The aim was to create a space to connect with likeminded people with some wellbeing support available from Andy at Space to Breathe. There was coffee and tea on tap, free wifi and various spaces to work in.

Work:Space ran as a trial to bring together people in the city who are starting new things. Sheffield is now a Social Enterprise city and we have such a rich culture of new and innovative businesses so we were excited to connect with some of the people doing these things.

It was great have a mix of different people join us who are doing a whole raft of things across the city. Katherine and Rhiannon of Andro and Eve who ‘create unique, feel good events that celebrate queer culture’. Ant of Creative Stream which ‘specialises in awesome design’. Ben who runs his own web agency. JP who works in communications but is looking to start up something new. Holly of SimplYou Coaching. And many more.

I loved meeting people who were doing things that are completely different to what I do in my every day. It was interesting to hear about people’s experiences of working on their own and as someone who works better in a busy space, I appreciated being able to be part of Work:Space.

We don’t know what the future of Work:Space is going to look like; keep your eyes peeled for more information as we get our heads together after a fab couple of days. If you are interested in a more permanent co-working space then check out some of the excellent spaces in Sheffield such as Union St and Roco.

Hello and welcome to The Printhouse.

Today we’re having a bit of a celebration because although we’ve been around as a venue for just over a year now, we have just launched our website.

We’re hoping that it tells you what you want to know about our venue and makes it easy for you to get in touch with us. If there’s anything we haven’t covered, do get in touch!

We’re excited about our venue in the city centre being somewhere that you can come and use to celebrate, learn and have space in the daily grind to play. If you’ve got an idea of what you could use the space for then do get in touch.

Our Events Manager is here to help with your venue queries and is looking forward to welcoming you to The Printhouse.
