Spring at The Printhouse

We’re halfway through February already and before we know it, 2019 will be long gone, so here at The Printhouse we’re already looking towards (and forward) to Spring this year.

Here at the Printhouse we have been through a few changes with Events Manager, Jo, going on maternity leave and maternity cover, Joe, stepping in to fill her place whilst Jo is on leave… aJoe for a Jo… Anyway, we wish all the best for Jo and family as they welcome a new member to the family!

Meanwhile, we have several events kicking off over the next few months, with Grow UK continuing to use the space – do check out what they’re up to at Grow UK or follow them on Instagram at grow_uk – and we are also looking forward to welcoming Space to Breathe to The Printhouse over the next few months. More on that soon. On top of all this, we also have some private parties going on so do get in touch if you are looking for somewhere to host your event as the dates are booking up!

Finally, you can now follow The Printhouse on instagram at theprinthousesheffield where there’ll be some updates very soon…

Co-Working, Events, This month

Eventful October

Eventful October is just that this month at The Printhouse and we’re excited to be welcoming lots of new people into the venue.

Grow UK started their training programme last week, which will be running throughout the next couple of months. Grow is a local youth employment charity specialising in working with 16 – 24 years old with barriers to employment whether through confidence, background, experience or personal circumstances. Follow them on Instagram at grow_uk to see what they’re up to and to see The Printhouse in action.

Off the Shelf Festival Of Words kicked off their events yesterday at The Printhouse with Poetry with Finuala Downing and Elizabeth Barrett and there are six more events lined up over the next couple of weeks as part of their literature festival. In fact they’re running a whole host of events across the city throughout October. Check out their website for more information.

We’ve also had our first baby shower and will be hosting some corporate training. This Thursday we’re also holding another pop up co-working space in partnership with Space to Breathe in the venue. If you’re a local business, sole trader or social enterprise, pop along and enjoy the unlimited wifi, free refreshments and inspiring company; I’ve really loved being part of this space.

If you want to get any of these dates in your diary, they’re all listed on our Events This Month.

Co-Working, Partnership

Last week we hosted Work:Space, a pop up co-working space, in partnership with Space to Breathe who are based in our offices. It ran as a two day drop in for start-ups, social enterprises and sole traders. The aim was to create a space to connect with likeminded people with some wellbeing support available from Andy at Space to Breathe. There was coffee and tea on tap, free wifi and various spaces to work in.

Work:Space ran as a trial to bring together people in the city who are starting new things. Sheffield is now a Social Enterprise city and we have such a rich culture of new and innovative businesses so we were excited to connect with some of the people doing these things.

It was great have a mix of different people join us who are doing a whole raft of things across the city. Katherine and Rhiannon of Andro and Eve who ‘create unique, feel good events that celebrate queer culture’. Ant of Creative Stream which ‘specialises in awesome design’. Ben who runs his own web agency. JP who works in communications but is looking to start up something new. Holly of SimplYou Coaching. And many more.

I loved meeting people who were doing things that are completely different to what I do in my every day. It was interesting to hear about people’s experiences of working on their own and as someone who works better in a busy space, I appreciated being able to be part of Work:Space.

We don’t know what the future of Work:Space is going to look like; keep your eyes peeled for more information as we get our heads together after a fab couple of days. If you are interested in a more permanent co-working space then check out some of the excellent spaces in Sheffield such as Union St and Roco.
